About Jon, the Owner & CaretakerCypress Pointe's owner, Jon Ruedisueli, has a lifetime of experience with horses. He began riding at the age of four, and rode hunters and for pleasure until college. While a pre-vet student at U.C. Davis, Jon started playing intercollegiate polo and working on the race track during summer breaks. After transferring to Cal. Poly. Pomona to study EquineEnterprise Management, Jon continued his education while playing polo in the Los Angeles area, working out with the Cal Poly Rodeo Team, and working with race horses. While completing his degree at the University of Florida, Jon played polo in the Ocala area and familiarized himself with the facilities and horse management practices in the region. Upon graduating from U.F., Jon returned to Southern California and began working for "Hall of Fame" trainer Jack Van Berg. Jon then went to work for Rancho Jonata (the largest California-bred facility in the state). After leaving Rancho Jonata, Jon returned to the race tracks to become assistant to Fabio Nor of Nor Racing Stables. In 1987, Jon was hired by "Hall of Fame" trainer D. Wayne Lukas to be an assistant for his Northern California / Bay Meadows Operation. Jon then worked directly under Mr. Lukas at Santa Anita before moving back to Florida to pursue polo and stable management. In the past 14 years, Jon has built and operated three facilities in Southwest Florida. His first project was Hancock Creek Stables in North Ft. Myers -- a 20 acre, 25 stall equestrian center with boarding, shows, clinics, and polo lessons. Then, Jon built and operated the popular Gateway Polo and Equestrian Center in Ft. Myers -- a 40 acre, 46 stall equestrian center with boarding, shows, clinics, training, lessons, polo, and racing. In 2000, Jon purchased a prime piece of property and built Cypress Pointe Equestrian Center in the Ft. Myers area. Situated in a pristine natural setting, this 20 acre / 25 stall facility offers professional boarding, training, and lessons, and is well on its way to becoming one of the premier boarding facilities in Southwest Florida!
